Zero waste journey and save environment

Can we reduce the waste during the journey ? Yes why not.
Why we choose to go for outing and trip ? The answer is to go way from our regular routine and spend the time in the nature with the Sea, water falls, natural locations, lakes, reservoirs, mountains etc.

Zero waste it doesn't mean that you do not produce the waste its simplifying the process of the waste management by reducing the material, stop use of non degradable material ( plastic) and adhere the philosophy of reduce, reuse and recycle. The plastic trash is destroying the beauty of the surrounding. Its destroying the water, cities, places, world and earth.  

Mostly when we travel anywhere we carry or use the disposable items like plastic water bottles, tissue papers, coffee glasses, straws,plastic carry bags etc. These are just examples which are adding and impacting in the environment in terms of waste. Even in the household items we mostly use this items unnecessarily. 

Some day back my friend Mr Ganesh Bora and his team started the  initiatives in Pimpri Chinchwad , Pune.

These 2 initiatives they successfully running in the Pimpri Chinchwad Pune. These are very simple and cost effective ways for the Zero waste journey and save environment. Mr Ganesh is basically from the Engineering background but due to interest and save the environment he took the initiatives to save the river and waste management technique. In most of the societies he visits and demonstrate the making a compost from he waste and as well as started on the zero waste management. This culture of zero waste journey already started in the other countries as well, so lets start it and save environment by simplifies ways.   

Think WHY it is important : 

Imagine that if a person or family trashing daily 1 dustbin approx (3 liter/3 kg) of waste, then monthly 90 kg and annually  

108 kg of trash adding in the environment. According to National geographic : world generates at least 3.5 million tons of plastic and other solid waste a day . Some of its not degrade as well. If we at least reduce some portion of it then it will return better benefit to environment.  

How to start zero waste journey and reduce the waste ?

So here is some of the examples to manage the waste and save environment.

• Bamboo tooth brush : These are Eco friendly tooth brushes made from the bamboo which reduces the use of the plastic pollution. 

• Zero waste party : Steel dinner ware. These single use disposable plates and water glasses makes more pollution and garbage. To make your party memorable start and rent Eco cutlery.
  

• Water bottles : Make a habit to keep a reusable water bottle with you all the time. Now a days in India allover the rail stations the refills are available with the less cost and reduce the plastic pollution . This kind of refill station available now on airport , rail station , bus terminal and public places.

• Bags : Reduce the use of plastic bags and make a habit to say no to plastic to shop keeper. Keep the small bag all the time with you its weight less than cell phone in pocket.
• Bring your own take away boxes : Carry the steel boxes for the take away and save the packaging cost on your purchase. 
• Coffee mug reusable : Its good to have a coffee but it should be from the reusable coffee mug instead of the regular disposable.
• Handkerchiefs : Often its huge mess with the bunch of the tissue paper, start use of handkerchief instead of packed tissue papers.
• Water saving aerators : Saving water is also a part of the save environment, these will save the water up to 70% by reducing the flow rate.

•  Eco Bio Cake : Another example to save the water, this bio cake make urinal pot water less.

With Reduce, Reuse and Recycle I want to add 2 more important terms and they are REFUSE and COMPOST. 

• REFUSE : Must to refuse for buying anything in the plastic and disposable items, keep a habit of the reusable product, I will take this platform to request the restaurant and vendors that Give the discount to the customer if they owe their own reusable boxes for takeaways.Learn to say no to the little things.
• COMPOST : The 80% of the waste is organic so it compost is the way best to help the environment.

Benefits of zero waste: 

• Time and money : If you plan your zero waste management from today then it will save annually 40% on your own budget by reducing the plastic from the trip and from your own house.
• It will help to grow our economy
• It will conserve the resources
• It will reduce the pollution
• It will create the business opportunities for waste from best

Zero waste journey its not a challenge its a change to the lifestyle to save the beautiful nature and surrounding.
